Architecture
Find out what the selection criteria and limitations are for programmes offered by the Architecture Faculty.
Places are limited in the second year of the undergraduate architecture degree.
If you're currently studying in your first year or wanting to apply directly into second-year of the Bachelor of Architectural Studies (BAS) you'll need to ensure you meet the criteria for the programme.
Selection into second year
Selection into second year courses for the BAS is based on your academic performance in first-year core courses. You will generally need to have good grades across all these courses.
Transferring from another university
Applicants with relevant degrees, qualifications in related disciplines or extensive professional experience will also be considered for entry to the second year of the degree.
If you're a transferring student, you can find more information about the selection criteria on the relevant degree page.
Selection committee
Selection into the second year of the BAS is made by a Selection Committee. Members of the Committee are appointed by the Head of School.
Appeal process
Appeals against the decisions of the Selection Committees should be directed in the first instance to the relevant Head of School.
Equity policy
Selection into second year courses is based on academic performance in the core first-year courses for the relevant programme. Māori and Pasifika students are ranked as if their grade point average (GPA) for these courses is one point higher than calculated.
