Protests and campaigns

Our campuses and our capital city can be lively places. Political and geopolitical events mean that protests are a part of civic life in Wellington.

Te Herenga Waka recognises the right to peaceful protest and expects those who protest to do so responsibly. Your involvement in protests should be consistent with the Student Conduct Statute  including the values of respect, responsibility, fairness, integrity, and empathy.

Threatening or abusive activity towards any students, colleagues or other guests on campus—or activity that constitutes or incites hatred towards any person or group of people based on their race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, or ethnic origin—is not okay.

In some situations, the University may need to make requests or take precautions to ensure your safety and its ability to operate as a place of learning. Graffiti, chalking or posters that you find offensive or inappropriate should be reported to Campus Security.
