New Students’ Orientation
We welcome new students to the University with events to help them find their way around campus, prepare for study, meet new people, and have fun.
If you're starting your studies in Trimester 2, join us for New Students' Orientation:
- Tuesday 1 July and Wednesday 2 July—sessions specifically for new international students, including international postgraduate students.
- Thursday 3 July and Friday 4 July—sessions for all new students and sessions specifically for new Māori, Pasifika, and postgraduate students.
- Monday 7 July—Pasifika welcome evening, session for late-arriving international students.

Monday 17 February
Pōwhiri
Pōwhiri to welcome our new tauira Māori and their whānau to Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington.
Get Sorted hub: Kelburn
Don’t know where to start? Come along to Level 2 of the Hub (just outside the entrance to the library) where you will find all the information you need, including campus maps.
The Get Sorted hub will be staffed by our student services teams and by student ambassadors, so you'll find the help you need to get sorted during Orientation week.
Kelburn campus tours
Take a tour any time between 10 am and 1 pm, Monday to Thursday. Meet at the campus tour info desk on Level 2 of the Hub, outside the library entrance.
Pipitea campus tours
Take a tour any time between 10 am and 1 pm, Monday to Thursday. Meet at the info desk on the ground floor of Rutherford House (33 Bunny Street).
Te Aro campus tours
Take a tour any time between 10 am and 1 pm, Monday to Thursday. Meet in front of the reception area in the atrium, 139 Vivian Street.
Te Amaru—Disability Services welcome
Come along to learn about Te Amaru—Disability Services, the University's provider of disability advice, expertise, and support. We work in partnership with staff, students, and the disability community to strengthen Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington’s culture of inclusion, to celebrate disability, and to ensure students can fully participate and achieve their aspirations.
Get Sorted: Pasifika drop-in sessions
Our Pasifika Future Student Advisers Tapu Vea and Faaaliga Leota will be available to guide you with course planning and enrolment.

Library tours are available at 10.10 am, 12.10 pm, and 2.10 pm, Monday to Thursday. Meet on Level 2 of the Hub, outside the library entrance.
Te Pātaka Toi Adam Art Gallery
Enjoy a visit to our on-campus art gallery any time between 11 am and 5 pm, Monday to Friday during Orientation week. Normal opening hours of the gallery are 11 am until 5 pm, Tuesday to Sunday, when exhibitions are on.
Paramanawa—morning tea
All new Māori students are welcome to join us for morning tea in the wharekai.
Official new student welcome
Official welcome to all new students by the Vice-Chancellor, Mayor, and VUWSA president, followed by a sausage sizzle.
Kaiakiaki and tauira whakawhanaungatanga
Meet your Kaiakiaki—Māori Student Engagement Adviser and tauira whakawhanaungatanga (get to know other new Māori students). You'll meet in groups based on your area of study.

International Students welcome
Welcome to Victoria University of Wellington! This session is a chance to hear from the International Student Support Team and get yourself orientated to Wellington and the University. This is one of the five compulsory sessions for new international students.

UNI101: Faculty of Architecture and Design Innovation
We invite all first year undergraduate students from the Faculty of Architecture and Design Innovation to join this UNI101 programme for a successful transition to university. It will connect you with other new students, help you find your way around, and provide you with tips for study and student life. It's also a chance to meet your Student Success Team—they're here to support your study journey.
Postgraduate students' welcome
