How to apply for the Community Services Card

  1. Check your eligibility. If you are a New Zealand citizen, a permanent resident, or have refugee or protection status, you are eligible to apply.
  2. Download the application form. If you need a physical form and a pre-paid envelope, you can get them at the main reception in the Hunter Building (Kelburn campus), the Tītoko counter on the ground floor of Rutherford House (Pipitea campus), and the old Tītoko counter located right from the main entrance (Te Aro campus).
  3. Send an email to student-hardship@vuw.ac.nz if there are no forms or envelopes left at one of our campuses. Check back at the campus location within two days for more forms and envelopes.
  4. Gather your documents to verify your identity. You can do this online or at a service centre.
  5. Send your application. You can mail it from the pharmacy located in the Easterfield Building (Kelburn campus). If you’re not based at Kelburn campus, you can post it at any post office in town.

If you are an international student and are facing financial hardship, you can apply for our Hardship Fund Equity Grants.
