Explore Orientation programmes for all students and for international, Māori, Pasifika, and postgraduate students.

The timetable for New Students’ Orientation week includes many different sessions, events, and activities, organised into a programme for all new students and additional programmes designed for groups of students with specific interests.

All Students' Orientation

Get started with a campus tour and sessions about Nuku (our digital learning platform) and managing your finances. UNI 101 and degree information events, and academic and study skills sessions will set you up for a great year of study.

Orientation week is also a great opportunity to get involved in your student community, meet new people, and have fun.

International Students' Orientation

If you're a new international student in your first trimester of study, International Orientation is mandatory. The sessions in the International Students' Orientation programme are specially designed for you. You are also welcome to attend all of the All Students' Orientation programme.

Māori Students' Orientation

Māori Students’ Orientation is an opportunity for you and your whānau to connect with the korowai of support at the University. This week-long programme will help you transition into tertiary studies, navigate our campuses, and meet key staff and students. Come along and get involved.

Our home base will be in room SU229, which is on Level 2 of the Student Union building. You can find Ngai Tauira, our Māori Students’ Association, on FaceBook and Instagram.

Pasifika Students' Orientation

The Pasifika Students’ Orientation is a week-long programme designed to welcome you to the University and kick-start the next season of your life. Get involved in a range of activities that will prepare you for a successful academic journey and meet with our ‘āiga of Pasifika staff and students.

Join us throughout the week in the Pasifika home base, which is located in rooms AM102–AM104 in the Alan MacDiarmid building. We look forward to supporting you on your journey at the University. Use hashtags #PO24 and #PasiVicLife to find us on social media.

Postgraduate Students' Orientation

The Postgraduate Students’ Association hosts events to welcome postgraduate students to the University. Find out more on the PGSA website.

VUWSA O-Week

Evening events during New Students’ Orientation—including the toga party, comedy night, and gigs—are organised by the Victoria University of Wellington Students’ Association—Te Aka Tauira. The students' association, commonly known as VUWSA, is run by students, for students.
