Financial wellbeing workshops
Want to take back control of your money? Come along to a financial wellbeing workshop and learn how to stay on top of your finances.
Financial wellbeing workshops are delivered across the year by the University’s Student Finance Advisers. Workshops are informal, interactive, and will give you the opportunity to ask questions without judgement.
Topics discussed include developing healthy money habits, creating financial goals, how to start saving, and practical tips to get control of your debt.
Goal setting and budgeting
Find out the first steps to taking control of your finances.
In this workshop, you will learn how to set realistic financial goals and create a budget to bring your goals within reach. We will talk about how you can make small changes to your everyday spending habits to increase your financial wellbeing and make your money work for you.
Saving and investing
Learn how to set yourself up for a better future.
Learning to save regularly is a big step towards getting ahead financially and can help you get the things you want. Saving is also the gateway to investing—making your money work for you to provide an income or increase in value (or both).
Topics discussed in this workshop will help you understand the importance of saving, learn saving strategies, and will help set you up to achieve your future financial goals.
Debt and overdrafts
Understand different credit types and learn how to manage debt.
Do you have an overdraft, credit card, or Q-card? This workshop provides information and practical tips around different types of credit, avoiding quick fixes, and implementing a plan to manage and get on top of your debt.
Online financial modules
If you can’t make it to one of our workshops on campus, you can register for Blackbullion—an online financial learning platform—for free to access a range of money modules that will help you get on track with your budget, savings, and university finances. Sign-up using your student ID number.
