Improving student experience
We want to ensure all students have a great experience at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington.
Each year we ask students to complete online surveys to give feedback on their time at the University. The insights from these surveys are used to inform decision making and improve student focused initiatives.
Student Voice—Getting Started
The Student Voice—Getting Started survey aims to capture new students’ initial impressions of life at university, as well as their enrolment and new student orientation experience. This survey helps us make sure that all students have a great start at Te Herenga Waka.
Student Voice—Have Your Say
This survey takes place towards the end of Trimester 2, and aims to capture students feelings on their university experience so far. It covers various aspects of student life, including academic experiences, services and space, technology, sustainabilty, and overall student wellbeing.
Graduate Destinations Survey
The purpose of the Graduate Destinations Survey is to understand the types of employment, or further study opportunities, graduates may take up after completing their qualifications. The Survey takes place in Trimester 2 each year, and goes out to graduates who completed their studies between the beginning of July the previous year and the end of June in the current year.
YOU Student Wellbeing Survey
The YOU Student Wellbeing Survey is a long term project which aims to understand more about how wellbeing affects student experience. The survey is sent out to three groups of students (students who enrolled at undergraduates at the beginning of 2019, 2020, and 2021) twice a year for each year they study at Te Herenga Waka.
Course delivery preference
The University conducted a survey to gather views from new and returning students about their preferences for course delivery in Trimester 1 2022. The purpose of the survey was to help inform the University’s teaching and learning response amid community spread of the Omicron variant of COVID-19.
Survey on mandatory COVID-19 vaccination
In November 2021 a survey was sent to students to understand their views on the possibility of the University requiring mandatory vacination for staff, students, and others coming on to our campuses.
The University’s vaccine mandate was discontinued on Tuesday 26 April 2022.
COVID-19 Student Experience Survey
In May 2020, the COVID-19 Experience Survey was sent to all students at Te Herenga Waka. The aim of the survey was to learn more about the impact that the COVID-19 pandemic has had on our students.
