The Faculty of Science and Engineering has selection criteria for some of its courses and programmes.
Science
Selection criteria apply to the Bachelor of Biomedical Science (BBmedSc), Bachelor of Science (BSc) and postgraduate programmes.
Limited-entry courses
The allocation of places in limited entry courses offered by the Faculty of Science and Engineering and its schools is based on academic merit.
Limited-entry programmes
Diploma, Honours, and Master's Part 1
The decision about whether you are accepted into a postgraduate diploma, Honours degree, or Part 1 of a Master's programme that is offered by the Faculty of Science and Engineering and its schools is based on academic merit. In particular, your performance in 300-level courses will be evaluated.
Master's by thesis and specialist programmes
In general, the selection criteria for Master's by thesis degrees and specialist programmes involve:
- academic merit
- relevant experience
- motivation to complete the programme
- performance in an interview (for some programmes).
Engineering
The selection criteria for entry into the second year of the Bachelor of Engineering with Honours (BE(Hons)) are listed on the web page about that degree.
Selection criteria for BE(Hons) second year
Entry into the 300- and 400-level courses in Part 2 of the BE(Hons) requires a B average and the completion of all Part 1 courses, including the requirements for at least one specialisation.
Appeals against exclusion
To appeal against exclusion from a limited entry course or programme, including from the second year of the BE(Hons), you will need to make a written appeal to the Associate Dean (Students) of the Faculty of Science and Engineering.
