Maps and guides to help you locate New Students' Orientation sessions, spaces, and home bases, and other key buildings on our Kelburn campus.

Key locations

  • The Hub is a large gathering area in the centre of the campus, and a good place to start. It's where you'll find:
    • Get Sorted Hub
    • Campus tour meeting spot
    • International students' information.
  • The Library is in the Rankine Brown (RB) building, and forms one side of The Hub. It's where you can pick up your student ID card during Orientation week.
  • Ngā Mokopuna is part of Te Herenga Waka Marae. It's the Māori students' home base.
  • The Student Union (SU) building is on the opposite side of the Tim Beaglehole Courtyard from The Hub, and contains:
    • Memorial Theatre
    • Rainbow and wellbeing space (the Bubble).
  • The Recreation Centre is behind Cotton building.
  • Hunter is a large brick building, home to services such as the Admission and Enrolment team.

Lecture theatres and rooms

  • Maclaurin (MC) lecture theatres are up the steps from The Hub.
  • Te Toki a Rata (TTR) building is past Maclaurin.
  • Alan MacDiarmid (AM) building can be reached through the Cotton building. AM102–104 is the Pasifika students' home base.
  • Kirk (KK) lecture theatres can be reached from The Hub through a walkway on the Easterfield building side.

Chill-out zones

Looking for somewhere to hang at Kelburn away from the noise during Orientation week? Come to the student ambassador desk on Level 2 of the Hub for more information and to pick up a chill-out zone map.

Chill-out zones will be in the Kelburn Library (Rankine Brown building):

  • Quiet space on Level 4—Monday to Friday 9 am–4 pm
  • Silent space on Level 5 and 6—Monday to Friday 9 am–4 pm

Ha ki Waho digi detox spaces will be at Kelburn and Te Aro campuses:

  • Cotton room 119 (CO119)—Monday and Thursday, 11 am–1 pm
  • Te Aro room to be confirmed—Tuesday, 1 pm–3 pm
