Kōrero Mai survey
Find out about the Kōrero Mai survey and how your feedback helps shape policy, proposals, and plans that affect your student experience.
Kōrero Mai (previously Have Your Say) is the University’s annual student survey, run in Trimester 2. It’s your opportunity to share honest feedback about your experience, what’s working well, and what could be improved.
Each year, all enrolled students are invited to take part. The survey asks about key aspects of university life, including:
- your academic experience
- teaching, assessments, and feedback
- student community and connection
- digital tools and technology
- services, facilities, and support.
Thousands of students take part each year, providing valuable insights through both ratings and written comments.
Why it matters
Your feedback directly informs decisions across the University. It helps to:
- identify what’s working well
- highlight areas where change is needed
- guide improvements to teaching, services, and student life.
We use the results to prioritise action. We report back on what we’ve heard and what’s changing as a result of your feedback.
Taking part in Kōrero Mai is one of the key ways you can shape your experience at the University.
Every response contributes to improving the student experience, now and in the future.
2026 survey refresh and rebrand
In 2026, the University is evolving the Have Your Say survey into Kōrero Mai.
This is more than just a name change—it reflects a broader commitment to improve the way the University engages with students.
Kōrero Mai means “to speak, to tell, to share your thoughts”. This is exactly what we’re inviting all students to do.
The survey has been shortened and updated to reduce the burden on students and improve the survey taking experience.
Kōrero Mai will be completely anonymous. This is a significant change. We hope it will encourage greater participation and more open and honest feedback. It also means that we can use more communication channels to invite students to take part.
