Limited entry

Some courses and qualifications have a limit on the number of students they can admit.

To find out if the study options you're interested in have limited intake or selection criteria, you can search courses with limited entry, read the detail on the course page, or see the programmes by faculty with limited intake or selection criteria (below).

Application date—limited-entry qualification or major

You need to submit your admission application in Pūaha by 1 November if you want a place in a limited-entry qualification or major (programme of study).

Application date—limited-entry course

You need to apply by 1 December for individual limited-entry courses. Use the online course enrolment system to make your application. If you're starting a new qualification, you need to have already applied for and been accepted into your chosen programme of study.

Selection process

Each limited-entry course, qualification, and major has its own specific entry criteria. For courses, the top priority is usually given to students who need to complete the course for a particular major or specialisation. The remaining places are often allocated on academic merit and the course's relevance to the student’s overall programme. Sometimes ‘first-come, first-served’ is applied, meaning students should pay particular attention to the application deadlines.
