The Staff Giving programme allows staff to easily support philanthropic causes at Victoria University of Wellington.
Philanthropic donations play an increasingly important role at the University. In 2019, they provided $4.7 million to support students, academic positions, research, and more—building on our philanthropic campaign “What if…”, which seeks to raise support for key initiatives such as student equity, sustainability, health and well-being, creativity, and innovation.
Donations are made through the Foundation and come from alumni, friends and community leaders, trusts and other institutions, and our own university staff, who are able to donate through the Staff Giving Programme.
Every donation, large or small, provides meaningful support for our community.
About Staff Giving
Through our Staff Giving Programme you are able to support a range of projects and needs at the University. You can make a one-off or fortnightly donation through our payroll giving programme, or you can donate online or by bank transfer.
You receive a tax credit of 33.33 cents for every dollar donated. With payroll giving, an amount of your choosing is deducted pre-tax to be distributed to an area of your choice; your tax credit is automatically applied, reducing the amount of PAYE or withholding tax paid when your gift is made. If you make your donation online or by bank transfer, you can claim your tax credit through Inland Revenue at the end of the tax year.
We are grateful to staff members who already support the University through payroll giving. If you would like to join them or learn more about donations and the Foundation, visit the intranet and complete our staff payroll giving form.
