Learning and Teaching Committee

The Learning and Teaching Committee advises on learning and teaching, as well as other academic matters.

The Learning and Teaching Committee is a subcommittee of the Academic Board. The Committee assists the Academic Board in matters concerning learning, teaching (including assessment), the student learning experience, and delivery of curricula.

Convenor: Professor Robyn Longhurst, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic).

Membership

The Committee membership includes representatives from:

  • Associate Deans of Learning and Teaching from all faculties
  • the AVC (Pasifika)
  • Toihuarewa
  • the Teaching-Intensive Academic Career Pathway
  • the Library
  • the Academic Office
  • the Centre for Academic Development
  • VicTeach
  • student services
  • the student bodies.

There are four subcommittees of the Learning and Teaching Committee:

Assessment Subcommittee

The Assessment Subcommittee advises the Learning and Teaching Committee on assessment matters, including:

  • the Assessment Framework
  • assessment policies and procedures
  • the use of Artificial Intelligence in assessment
  • the conduct of tests.

The AI Working Group (AIWG) is attached to this subcommittee.

Meetings are held monthly.

Learning Analytics Subcommittee

The Learning Analytics Subcommittee advises the Learning and Teaching Committee on learning analytics projects and activities, consistent with the principles in the Data Governance Policy Learning Analytics Guidelines.

Learning Environments Subcommittee

The Learning Environments Subcommittee advises the Learning and Teaching Committee and facilitates planning for operational improvement and enhancement of the physical and digital learning environments of the University. This includes Nuku and other learning and teaching applications.

Work-integrated Learning Subcommittee

The Work-integrated Learning Subcommittee advises the Learning and Teaching Committee on:

  • Work-integrated Learning (WIL) proposals
  • activities, policies, and procedures
  • support for managing and integrating WIL within curricula.

Meetings are held bi-monthly.

All proposals submitted to the Learning and Teaching Committee for consideration must have the approval of the relevant faculty board(s). Changes to moderation and assessment procedures should be sent to the Assessment Subcommittee for approval.
