Mei Fern Johnson

Mei Fern Johnson is an internationally recognised lawyer with more than 25 years’ experience in business law, major projects, and public-private partnerships.

Mei Fern is an internationally recognised lawyer with more than 25 years’ experience advising private and public sector clients on complex corporate and commercial matters, including on mergers and acquisitions and overseas investments in New Zealand, and the intersection between the public and private sectors. Her practice spans the infrastructure, technology, energy and transport sectors.  She is a partner at national law firm Russell McVeagh.  She is also a consultant to the World Bank Group on various disaster risk financing projects.

She was a director of National Infrastructure Funding and Financing Limited (2022-2025), an Independent Member on the Capital and Infrastructure Board Committee for Health NZ Te Whatu Ora (2022–2024), (Acting) General Counsel for the Accident Compensation Corporation (2014–2015), and a Board member for Russell McVeagh (2018–2022).  

She holds the GAICD qualification from the Australia Institute of Directors and is a member of the New Zealand Institute of Directors.
