I’m Jaistone Finau and I’m running to be your student representative on university council.

I am a proud Pasifika student who was born and bred in Porirua. I am running for council because I believe that every decision that the university makes should be made with students’ interests being put first and I believe that I have the skills to make sure this happens.

I come from a background of service, community building and advocacy. In the last year as the president of the National Pacific Students Association, I collaborated with other National and local Student associations and government to advocate for the needs of all students. These collaborations led to an increase in Hardship funds, 25 million dollars for student mental health services and the creation of a Pastoral Care code amongst the many other wins for students.

I want to bring my passion of advocating for students, of collaborating with and strengthening different student communities and my desire to serve our students holistically to university council.

Vote for me if you believe in our student community being at the centre of every decision.
