Profile

Sarah Ramazan Mahalli has completed her PhD studies in Spanish and Latin American Studies at Victoria University of Wellington. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in French and International Relations and a First-Class Bachelor of Arts with Honours degree in Spanish and Latin American Studies from the same institution. Her Honours research project focused on the Latin American literary current known as Indigenismo and the concept of heterogenous literature. Her doctoral thesis builds on that research, examining the works of Peruvian writer José María Arguedas, whose narrative fiction formed part of his project to defend and diffuse Quechua culture and forge a new form of literature based on the cultural heterogeneity of Peru.
