Greek Field Trip - students jump in the air outside of a monument.

The 'Jewel in the Crown' of the Classics Programme, the Greek Field Trip was established in 2000 to provide an opportunity for a small group (around twenty) of 300- and 400-level students to enhance their knowledge of classical antiquity by undertaking five weeks study and research in Greece, including Crete and the Greek mainland.

Course information

The field trip is co-taught as CLAS 320 (20 points) and CLAS 420 (20 points). It is a full-time course which runs for 5–6 weeks in November/December every second year.

How to apply

Applications close in early February of the year the field trip is offered. Students apply online and submit a personal statement about themselves and why they want to go on the trip, including future aspirations. Students are then selected and notified in mid-February.

The cost

The exact cost for the trip is determined each year the course is run. A non-refundable deposit is due in April with the balance of the trip due a few months later.
