Profile
Shiqi is a practitioner-researcher working at the intersection of literary translation and performing arts. Trained in Chinese literature, secondary teaching, and intercultural communication, she is dedicated to amplifying underrepresented voices through creative practice and community engagement.
Shiqi’s current autoethnographic inquiry uses her Chinese translation of Nathan Joe’s Scenes from a Yellow Peril as a textual foundation for participatory activities, aiming to connect Sinophone individuals with local migration histories, sites, arts, and one another.
Also a freelance translator, interpreter, and multidisciplinary performer, Shiqi contributed to the proofreading of Playmarket NZ’s anthology Traces (2025) and co-created the world’s first a-spec community-devised theatre piece, We’re Weird for Other Reasons (2026).
