    On Tuesday 6 December, the 3rd annual translation competition for NZ secondary schools awards' ceremony was held in the Hunter Council Chamber as part of a “Celebration of Creative Translation,” co-hosted by the Italian Chamber of Commerce in New Zealand, Wai-te-ata Press, and the School of Languages and Cultures.

    On Wednesday 9 November, Hunter Club members gathered in Wai-te-ata Press to hear Dr Marco Sonzogni, reader in Italian with the School of Languages and Cultures, relate the love story of Eugenio Montale and Irma Brandeis, based on the unexpected gift of an Etruscan amulet.

    Richard Millington, Programme Director for the German Programme, and Rory McKenzie, MA in Literary Translation Studies, have both received accolades for their achievements.

    The ninth Annual Lecture in Literary Translation Studies was held on Wednesday 28 September at Kelburn Campus, with Te Ahukaramū Charles Royal and Simon Perris discussing the challenges posed by theatre translation, and the satisfactions of overcoming them.
