Hannah Mettner is a Wellington-based writer from Tūranganui-a-Kiwa. Her first collection, Fully Clothed and So Forgetful, won the 2018 Jessie Mackay Best First Book Award for Poetry. Her second collection, Saga, was published by Te Herenga Waka University Press in 2023. In 2014, with Morgan Bach and Sugar Magnolia Wilson, she co-founded the online poetry journal Sweet Mammalian.

Hannah writes: 'I began this project interested in reading and writing queer stories that offer more to their characters than a trauma, romance or coming-out narrative. In looking for alternatives to these narratives, I've been examining queer fabulist short fiction which problematises the dominant (or straight) mode of experiencing, and writing about, the world. My creative work will be a collection of short stories engaging with this queer fabulist style.'
