Vic Classics in Europe
For the past three months Diana Burton and Jeff Tatum have been Visiting Fellows at the Institute for Classical Studies at the University of London.
While there, Diana has been conducting research on Hades in Greek art, literature, and cult. Jeff has been 
concentrating on the career of Mark Antony. During their time abroad, each delivered several papers. Diana gave a paper entitled, ‘Hades, Zeus, Demeter: the ruler, the farmer, and the god of death’, at a conference on That Other Crowd: Nethergods in the ancient Greek mythical imagination, held in Munich in September 2017. She also lectured at several British universities. Her talks included: 'Wealth and laments: Hades giver of good things', at the University of Liverpool; ‘Hades: cake or death?’, a research seminar at the Institute for Classical Studies; ‘Wealth and laments: Hades giver of good things’, at the University of Leeds, and ‘Wealth and laments: Hades giver of good things’, a collaborative staff research workshop conducted at the University of Kent. All these talks were given in October. As 
for Jeff, his presentations included ‘Greece for the Greeks: Plutarch’s Aratus and Greek Chauvinism’, at the conference Xenofobia y racismo en el mundo antigua, hosted by the University of Zaragoza in September 2017. He also gave a lecture entitled, ‘I am Antony Yet: Reading Mark Antony’s Mail’, to the Birmingham Research Institute for History and Cultures at the University of Birmingham and at the University of Kent (both in October).
