Writing for Young Adults with Mal Peet

A rare opportunity to work with the celebrated UK author in 2013.

The IIML is delighted to bring an international star of Young Adult writing to Wellington to convene a creative writing workshop in first trimester 2013. This will be Mal Peet's first appearance in New Zealand as a teacher.

Mal Peet has won the prestigious Carnegie Medal and the Guardian Prize for Children’s Fiction, and his work has been translated into many languages. His YA novels include Keeper (2003), Tamar (2005), The Penalty (2006), Exposure (2008) and Life: an Exploded Diagram (2011). With his wife, Elspeth Graham, Mal also writes picture books for younger readers.

Enrolment in CREW 352 Creative Writing Workshop is limited to 10 students. The formal prerequisite is 40 points and an appropriate standard in written composition. Because of demand for places, however, the quality of the work which accompanies applications is critical in deciding admissions.

Workshops will be held from 3 - 6pm on Mondays in first trimester 2013 at the IIML, 16 Waiteata Road, Kelburn Campus.
