Frankfurt Book Fair gets underway
Bill Manhire pays tribute to New Zealand writers at the opening ceremony of the Frankfurt Book Fair.
New Zealand has taken centre stage as guest of honour at the world's biggest book fair. Joining Joy Cowley as a key speaker at the opening ceremony of the 2012 Frankfurt Book Fair, Bill Manhire highlighted some of New Zealand's greatest literary minds and suggested our writers should 'challenge their own modesty'. The IIML's Bill Manhire and Chris Price are guests at the Book Fair, along with a number of students and graduates. Here's a taste of some of the sessions they'll be involved in over the coming week:
Making Baby Float: Poetry of Bill Manhire with musicians

- Transit of Venus project: Chris Price and Transit of Venus poets present new work
- 'Stories from the Other Side: Fantasy Literary from New Zealand, featuring Lawrence Patchett
- An interview with Tina Makereti (currently Writer in Residence at the Weltkulturen Museum in Frankfurt)
