To apply and enrol for postgraduate study you must follow certain procedures.
Before you enrol, select an admission type to the University based on your previous qualifications and results.
Certificates and diplomas

Entry to an Honours programme requires a good Bachelor’s degree in the same discipline. However, all applications are considered individually and recognition can be given to appropriate academic and relevant work experience.

Master’s by coursework
Entry into Master’s by coursework is based on excellent academic performance in your undergraduate degree or relevant prerequisite qualifications.
Applications for Master’s by coursework are generally due on either 10 December or 10 January, although some exceptions apply.
Master’s by research
Master’s by research students will complete their application through the relevant school or faculty office. It is a good idea to discuss your proposed topic and supervision requirements before starting the application process.
You will be advised on what process you need to follow to enrol, as some enrolments can be completed online and others use enrolment forms.

There are three application rounds a year for admission as a PhD student, combined with Victoria University of Wellington scholarship applications. The deadlines are 1 March, 1 July and 1 November.
