New Students’ Orientation

Nau mai, haere mai, welcome. Each trimester, the University runs New Students’ Orientation to welcome all new students and get you off to the best start.

Whether you're coming straight from school, returning to study as a mature student, starting your first degree, transferring from another tertiary institution, or beginning a postgraduate qualification—these events are here to support your journey from day one.

Pasifika Orientation

Pasifika Orientation begins on Friday 13 February 2026 with new students connecting with each other as well as Pasifika staff who will be part of their journey while at university.  There will be a formal welcome - for new students and their āiga  - on Monday 16 February 2026 (6pm to 8pm).

Students in halls

First-year halls residents move in on Sunday 9 February 2026, and Tau Mai kicks off the next day. Tau Mai is designed to help give you a solid foundation to begin your first year of study and settle you into your new hall and home in Wellington City.
