Accommodation wellbeing advisers

Get to know our Accommodation Wellbeing Advisers who offer support if you’re living in a Hall of Residence.

If you're living in a University hall of residence, you can book an appointment with one of our Accommodation Wellbeing Advisers—also known as AWAs. They are all registered mental health professionals and each hall has a designated AWA.

How we help

Accommodation Wellbeing Advisers help students manage the demands of living and studying away from home. For example, you might need help with:

  • your mental health and wellbeing
  • issues affecting your studies
  • relationships with family, friends and partners
  • the impact of harmful behaviour on you or your friends.

We are:

  • inclusive and welcoming
  • neuro-affirming
  • confidential
  • solution focused
  • connected with other useful services
  • accessible.

When and where

The AWA service is available from Monday to Friday, 8.30 am to 5 pm. You can meet with your AWA at your hall or at Mauri Ora's Kelburn, Pipitea, and Te Aro clinics.
