Costs

Find out how much it costs to use the services at Mauri Ora, including appointments with doctors, nurses, and counsellors.

Routine medical appointments are generally free for enrolled domestic students, but there are charges for specialist services and for international students.

On this page:

Domestic students

Domestic students who are enrolled with Student Health and Counselling receive free routine medical appointments and free counselling appointments.

You will need to pay for services that go beyond a general consultation, for example, specialist servicesvaccinations, or travel consultations. The pricing schedule below has a full list of costs.

International students with funded healthcare

If you hold a Manaaki or Commonwealth scholarship, have residency, or are studying on an English Language Training for Officials (ELTO) programme, you may be eligible for publicly funded healthcare and will therefore be treated the same as a domestic student.

International students with insurance

If you’re an international student, we encourage you to register with us. Mauri Ora may be able to bill the insurer directly for most of your visits, in accordance with your coverage. See the pricing schedule below for a full list of costs.

Enrol now

We recommend you enrol as soon as you can—before your first appointment. For counselling, you will also need to fill out our intake form before booking your first appointment.

Invoices and payment

When you make an appointment, our team will tell you if you’ll be charged for the service you’ve requested. If there is a charge, we will send you an invoice via email after the appointment and ask that you pay it within seven days. We will send you monthly email reminders until you pay your invoice.

You can pay your Student Health fees online through our payment portal.

If you have any difficulties making a payment, please call 04 463 5308 or email mauriora@vuw.ac.nz to discuss payment options.
