Travel consultations
Make an appointment for a travel consultation eight weeks before you plan to travel overseas so that you can have your healthcare needs covered.
We recommend that you make an appointment for a medical travel consultation as part of planning fieldwork, a student exchange, or a holiday to anywhere more exotic than Australia.
Your appointment should be at least eight weeks before you leave on your trip.
In the 30-minute-long appointment, we'll review your itinerary and assess travel-related risks based on the activities you will be participating in and the locations you plan to visit. Travel risks can include altitude sickness, tick-borne diseases, water and food-borne illnesses, malaria, and rabies.
We'll also provide recommendations for which vaccinations you should get, and will help you to weigh the risks and benefits with tailored, country-specific advice.
Costs
We charge domestic, Manaaki, ELTO, and international students for travel consultations. The cost may be higher than the minimum amount shown on our list of costs, for example, if you need an in-depth consultation due to the countries you're visiting or your particular healthcare needs.
