Mauri Ora—Student Health and Counselling provides health and counselling services to students at our Kelburn and Pipitea sites. We offer counselling by appointment at our Te Aro campus.
Operating hours vary across our three sites. You can call our reception team between 8.30 am and 4.45 pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, and from 10.30 am on Tuesdays.
Closing at 12pm on Friday 5 December
We will be closing early on Friday the 5th of December 2025 at 12pm . Below is where you can access support while we are closed.
Christmas and New Years holiday hours
During the 2025–2026 Christmas and New Year holiday period, the opening times for our health and counselling services will be as detailed below.
We will only process requests for repeat prescriptions on days when we are open—and be aware that the University Pharmacy will be closed for two weeks.
You will still be able to get support on the days that we are closed through Practice Plus telehealth appointments and other after-hours services.

Repeat prescriptions
You can use our online tool to request a repeat prescription at any time, but we will only monitor and process requests on days when we are open. You will need to plan ahead.

University Pharmacy
The University Pharmacy will be closed from 4 pm on Friday 19 December 2025 and will reopen on Monday 12 January 2026.
If you normally have your scripts sent to the University Pharmacy, during this time you should ask for your script to be sent to an alternative pharmacy that is open over the Christmas and New Year period.
When we're closed
If you need health or counselling support on the days that we are closed, use after hours options including telehealth appointments through Practice Plus, Healthline and other phone advice services, and the Wellington Accident and Urgent Medical Centre ('After Hours clinic').
Practice Plus holiday hours
You can have a phone or video call appointment with a doctor through the Practice Plus telehealth service when we aren't open. Appointments will be free for community service card holders ad partially subsidised for those without, until 5th January 2026. The code will have been sent to you via email.
Their operating hours over the 2024–2025 Christmas and New Year period are:
- Public holidays—8 am to 8 pm
- Weekdays—9 am to 10 pm
- Weekends—8 am to 8 pm
After Hours clinic holiday hours
Wellington Accident and Urgent Medical Centre (WAMC) at 17 Adelaide Road, Mt Cook will be open throughout the Christmas period. This is a walk-in service, so you don't need to have an appointment.
Access to counselling support during closure days and after hours
Below is a list of some of the services available in New Zealand that offer support, information, and help. All services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, unless otherwise specified.
