- Emeritus Prof John Gamble - Igneous petrology and petrogenesis, and physical volcanology
- AProf Monica Handler - Geochemistry, mantle processes, magma evolution, environmental geochemistry
- AProf Kevin Norton - Cosmogenic nuclides, erosion and weathering processes, and soil production
- Dr Ian Schipper - volcanic eruption mechanisms, magma-water interaction, experimental volcanology/petrology, magma vesiculation, permeability, and textural evolution, volatile solubility and degassing dynamics, volcanic fluid dynamics, and magmatic evolution and melt segregation
- Prof Diane Seward - Low temperature thermochronology: Fission-track analysis, (U-Th-Sm)/He analysis with applications in tectonics, structural geology, basin analysis, and landscape evolution
- Prof Terry Seward - chemistry and geochemistry of aqueous fluids at elevated temperatures, metal complex and ion association equilibria, weak acid/base ionisation, ion hydration, water-cluster equilibria, biomolecule stability, volcanic gas chemistry, and hydrothermal ore formation
- Dr Dan Sinclair - environmental geochemistry, and palaeoceanographic and palaeoenvironmental change
- Dr Julie Vry - Metamorphism, metamorphic pressure-temperature-time (P-T-t) histories, fluid flow, and fluid-rock interaction
- Prof Colin Wilson - Explosive volcanism, and interactions of magmatic and tectonic processes
