Laurette is studying towards a Master of Climate Change Science and Policy.

Tackling global issues

Laurette was drawn to the Master of Climate Change Science and Policy as she wanted to further develop her knowledge of climate change and apply this new and expanded knowledge—especially around the physical science of climate change—to her policy role.

“Climate change presents perhaps the most profound challenge to have ever confronted the world’s social, cultural, environmental, political, and economic systems.”

A future in policy

“I am currently working as a Policy Advisor on Aotearoa New Zealand’s climate change policy and I am very passionate about addressing the impacts of climate change both here, and overseas.”

Laurette intends to continue analysing and advising on policy issues for the New Zealand Government.

“I plan to use the knowledge gained from this programme to support the development of informed, high-quality, and robust policies to mitigate and adapt to the effects of climate change at a domestic and international level.

“In addition, I intend to work with my iwi, Ngāti Kahungunu, to build on and strengthen our strategic plan for understanding and adapting to the impacts of climate change.”

No matter what you’re in to, whether that’s the arts, café hopping, sport, enjoying green spaces, reading or studying in the various libraries around the city, shopping or even experiencing Aotearoa New Zealand’s political scene and sitting in on Parliamentary debates at the Beehive. Wellington has it all.”
