The following School staff lead research projects within the Volcanology, Geochemistry and Petrology Research Group:

  • Dr Bruce Charlier - Senior Research Fellow, Geochemistry Laboratory Manager
  • AProf Monica Handler - Geochemistry, mantle processes, magma evolution, environmental geochemistry
  • Dr Ian Schipper - volcanic eruption mechanisms, magma-water interaction, experimental volcanology/petrology, magma vesiculation, permeability, and textural evolution, volatile solubility and degassing dynamics, volcanic fluid dynamics, and magmatic evolution and melt segregation
  • AProf Dan Sinclair - environmental geochemistry, and palaeoceanographic and palaeoenvironmental change
  • Prof Colin Wilson - Explosive volcanism, and interactions of magmatic and tectonic processes
