The following School staff lead research projects within the Political Economy and Development Research Group:

  • Associate Prof Sara Kindon - Participatory research, youth, Maori, feminist geography, community development, community video, and gender analysis
  • Prof Warwick Murray - Latin America economics/politics/culture/history, Chile/Argentina/Brazil/NZ/Chile relations, human geography, globalisation, international development, Third World, rural development, Global fruit trade, and Pacific Islands geography and economics
  • Prof John Overton - NZ and Pacific Islands aid and development, and global wine industry
  • Dr Marcela Palomino-Schalscha - development (post-development), diverse and solidarity economies, decolonisation and decoloniality, neoliberalism, politics of scale and place, and indigenous-run tourism
