Architecture student in Pacific art exhibition
Embracing a more watery future is part of third year Architecture student Elyjana Roach’s project which is being displayed as part of ‘The Drowned World’.
The exhibition by Tautai, an organisation dedicated to the development and ongoing support of Pacific arts and artists.
Every year Tautai exhibits work by Pacific tertiary art students. This year the exhibition ‘The Drowned World’ investigates the intimate relationship between human life and water.
Elyjana draws on her training in architectural design to test the possibilities of an amphibious living environment that embraces a more watery future.
The exhibition explores water’s capacity to destroy, sustain and transform human existence, asking how changes to the earth’s waterscape might affect our minds, bodies and social formations. Tuatai are taking a different approach this year and the exhibition will be housed on a website, a platform which allows the work to be both transportable and accessible.
The launch will be held at Auckland’s Silo six pack in Wynyard Quarter on Thursday 4th December 6 - 8pm.
