Virtual appointments

A telehealth consultation via phone or video call may be an alternative to an in-person appointment with a doctor, nurse, or counsellor at Mauri Ora.

Depending on your health concern, you may be able to have a virtual consultation by phone or video call instead of visiting us in person. A virtual appointment is a good idea if you have cold or flu symptoms and are at risk of infecting others.

All after-hours consultations with Practice Plus doctors and nurse practitioners are virtual appointments.

How to book

Call us on 04 463 5308 to book a virtual appointment during Mauri Ora's normal opening hours. Be aware that not all appointments can be conducted virtually, and you may be asked to attend a face-to-face appointment instead.

Sign-up for the Practice Plus service to make a virtual appointment outside of Mauri Ora's operating hours.

You need to be enrolled as a patient at Mauri Ora in order to book a virtual appointment with one of our doctors, nurses, or counsellors or to have a consultation with a Practice Plus doctor or nurse practitioner. However, you do not need to be enrolled as a patient in order to access a virtual appointment with a counsellor.

How to attend

If your appointment will be via a phone call with a Mauri Ora clinician, we will call you on the preferred contact number that we have listed for you. We recommend that you check that we have the correct phone number when you book your appointment.

If your appointment will be via video call with a Mauri Ora clinician, you will be sent a link via text message in advance. Follow the instructions in the text to access your video appointment.

Practice Plus will provide instructions for how to attend after-hours consultations once you've signed up and booked an appointment.

In-person follow-up

If you need to make an in-person appointment as a follow-up to your virtual consultation, your clinician will tell you during your phone or video call. They will either book the appointment on your behalf while on the call, or ask you to book an appointment yourself.
