This memorandum will put into place teaching, supervision and research links in a wide range of areas. An important part of the agreement focuses on potential student and staff exchange,” says Professor Warwick Murray, VILLA Director, SGEES Prof, and Human Geography researcher.

Professor Murray and Professor Roberto Rabel, Victoria’s Pro Vice-Chancellor International Engagement, negotiated the agreement with Carlos Ramirez, Deputy Vice-Chancellor International at UVM.

UVM is a private university based in the Valparaiso region in Chile, with more than 8,000 students on three campuses.

Professor Murray visited UVM last month as part of a Chilean government-funded research trip.

“It’s a University increasingly known for its inclusive policies and research, including working with marginalised and social innovation,” he says. “This agreement means Victoria staff and students will be able to enjoy the benefits of contact with a rapidly growing institution in a progressive and attractive part of South America.”

Interested students and staff should contact the Victoria University International Engagement team.
