Sports leagues

On-campus social sports leagues include netball, indoor football, futsal, volleyball and basketball. They’re fun, affordable, and designed for students.

Trimester 3 sports league registrations are closed

Sports leagues will resume under alert level 2, from Monday 13 September. Ensure you come prepared for your games, by familiarising yourself with the guidelines below:

Trimester 3 sports league information

Basketball

  • League: Thursday Open, 5 pm–9 pm
  • Dates: Six rounds commencing from Thursday 11 November
  • Location: Main Gym, Recreation Centre, Kelburn
  • Format: 5-a-side with a maximum of 12 players per team, two x 13-minute halves
  • Cost:
    • Student team: $130
    • Combined team: $160
    • Individual player: $20

Netball

  • League: Tuesday Mixed, 5 pm–9 pm
  • Dates: Six rounds commencing from Tuesday 9 November
  • Location: Main Gym, Recreation Centre, Kelburn
  • Format: 7-a-side with a maximum of 12 players per team, two 13-minute halves. Each team can have a maximum of three males on court, with only one male allowed in each third of the court at any one time.
  • Cost:
    • Student team: $130
    • Combined team: $160
    • Individual player: $20

Part exercise, part social affair, our leagues are fun, affordable, and designed for students. All leagues are held on the Kelburn campus—referees and playing bibs are provided. Leagues run for nine playing weeks and break for the University holidays.

We host open leagues and mixed leagues. Registrations are open to student teams, combined teams, and individual players (in identified leagues).

Team compositions

Student teams

All players must be students of the University and provide valid student ID numbers.

Combined teams

Teams must have at least three students of the University or staff who are required to provide valid ID numbers.

Individual players

Available in specific leagues and subject to interest from players.

Open leagues

No gender combination requirements.

Mixed leagues

Gender combination requirements, specific to sports code.
