VUW Aquatics

Join a strong and supportive community of competitive and recreational swimmers, divers and surf lifesavers at VUW Aquatics.

Our aquatics programme supports participants from a range of ages and experience—including youth, students, adults and masters levels.

Any university staff member or student is welcome join our community and get involved.

Led by Olympic coach Gary Hollywood, we’re building our aquatics community at the University in collaboration with our swimming, surf-lifesaving, and diving partners:

Aquatics at University

Swimming – recreational/casual

Join our casual group swimming from 830 to 930 am, every weekday at the Wellington Regional Aquatic Centre in Kilbirnie.

Swimming – performance

Get involved in our high-performance programme for competitive swimmers. We run training sessions six mornings and three afternoons a week at the Wellington Regional Aquatic Centre in Kilbirnie.

Swimming – staff and mature students

Swim with Harbour Capital Masters who meet Saturdays 7:30 to 8:30 am and Wednesdays 7:00 to 8:00 pm at the Wellington Regional Aquatic Centre in Kilbirnie.

  • Cost:  $4 per session plus $90 annual membership

Keep up your lifesaving activities and join our community at the Lyall Ball Surf Lifesaving Club. The clubs meets at 101 Lyall Bay Parade.
