Jitesh Yona
I am Jitesh, born and raised in India. I moved to Aotearoa a decade ago and call it home now. I am fluent in English and Hindi and understand Marathi and Punjabi languages. I have been married and in love with my wife of 20 years, and together we have three beautiful children. I love long drives, playing badminton, mountain biking, cooking, and fun with my family. I cherish meeting and working with people from various cultures and backgrounds.
My previous work experience is in a variety of settings including non-governmental organisations and Public/Government agencies. After having worked at Te Whatu Ora’s Community Mental Health & Addiction services as a case manager, I found myself gravitating towards pursuing a career in talk therapy and counselling. This led me to train in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing, and Mindfulness.
I use holistic wellbeing and strength approach to support individuals to attain their wellbeing goals. I have supported people experiencing issues including anxiety, depression, panic disorder, guilt, abuse, trauma, grief, self-esteem, relationship, eating disorder and addictions. I utilise a variety of models to support my clients to identify and address their cognitive barriers. I can assist you to explore your challenge/s and support you to gain broader understanding of yourself and your choices to help you to find solutions to move forward.
