Running at VUW
Take your running to the next level while you get a great student experience
Wellington has a proud history of producing internationally competitive runners, and Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington is excited to support the next generation to follow in their footsteps.
Athlete support
Staff and support are in place to ensure all student athletes can balance their studies alongside their sporting commitments.
Victoria University Athletics Club
Our own Athletics Club continues to go from strength to strength, bringing men and women together to train, compete and socialise.
The Running Hub
The Hub has been designed by students, with the aim of complementing individual training plans and club commitments, providing student runners with a great chance to develop further.
Scholarship support
Both the Roger Robinson and Mātātoa school leaver scholarships can provide student runners with the financial aid they need to maintain focus on running and study.
International pathways
Represent New Zealand at International University Sports Federation (FISU) events, competing at the World University Cross Country Championships, and the World University Summer Games.
"It’s very motivating to feel like you are backed by a community. It’s something I haven’t seen before in my other experiences with the sport.”—Running Hub member 2023
