Outdoor Zumba

When: Tuesday 10 March.

Outdoor Zumba is returning in 2020. Come along to our free Outdoor Zumba & Strong event in the Tim Beaglehole Courtyard. Everyone is welcome, so join in and bring your friends, brothers, family—anyone.

4 peaks, 4 weeks

When: 2 March until 29 March.

Start your time at Victoria University of Wellington on the right foot and win.

We’re challenging all students to get out and explore some of the great views that Wellington has to offer. One lucky student who climbs four of Wellington’s famous peaks in the first four weeks of Trimester 1 and uploads a photo to Instagram using our hashtag—#4peaks4weeks—will win the ultimate prize. Spot prizes are also up for grabs.

The Hunter Relay

    Returning in 2020. Pull together a team of four runners to take on the challenge of The Hunter Relay—a 650m dash down Kelburn Parade, up past the Hunter and Student Union buildings, finishing up in the Tim Beaglehole Courtyard.

    Social and comeptitive grades available.

    Prizes awarded for fastest laps, fastest hall, fastest club and best dressed, so get your creative hats on.

    Glow Zumba

    Dress up in neon or white to glow, get creative with our neon paint station, and enjoy this cardio-dance workout.Group exercise members only $5.00, non-group exercise members $10.00.

    Australasian University Health Challenge

    This challenge is for all Victoria University of Wellington students and staff. The aim is to help everyone be more active—it’s as easy as signing up on the 10,000 Steps website and recording your daily steps.

    Twelve universities across Australia and New Zealand will compete in this challenge and your involvement will contribute towards Team Victoria.

    More details about the 2020 challenge will be released at the start of Trimester 2.

    Evolution 6

    Our six-week healthy lifestyle programme will help you make positive changes to your overall wellbeing.

    Participants team up with our Fitness Advisors, setting goals, working hard, and having a lot of fun along the way, with the aim of cementing in healthy daily habits.

    If you want to feel fitter, leaner, and stronger, then this is the programme for you.

    Wahine Toa self-defence workshops

    University Recreation Wellington regularly holds self-defence courses throughout the year. These courses are open to all self-identifying women and non-binary people.

    Gain more confidence in your everyday life—learn ways to be strong and safe in a variety of situations. These courses teach you hits, kicks, holds, and escape techniques, as well as providing tips to help keep you safe.

    Sunday 10 May 10 am until 12 pm

    This is a refresher course delivered by trained, accredited teachers open to students and non-students. Students $5, non-students $10.

    Sunday 31 May 10 am until 4 pm

    This is a free course delivered by trained, accredited teachers and is available for students only.

    Round the Bays

    Registrations are now open for Round the Bays 2020, taking place around Wellington's waterfront on 16 February.

    We welcome all runners and walkers to Team Te Herenga Waka, no matter your age, stage, or level of fitness.

    Once you cross the finish line, you are welcome at the University picnic site and can enjoy refreshments, food, and spot prizes.
