National Party at Vic (Vic Nats)

VicNats is the University's branch of the Young Nats. Focusing on issues facing university students, VicNats works within the National Party to advocate

The Young Nats have been New Zealand’s largest and most active youth political movement since 1936, with a strong voice inside the National Party. The Young Nats focus on three key areas:

Campaign: Members go out to support MPs and candidates in both election and non-election years across the region through door knocking, leafleting, sign waving, and phone calling.

Policy: Young Nats members have influenced real policy outcomes. Ideas developed within the Young Nats have gone on to become Party policy or Government policy. For example, the Crisis Recovery Cafés that were announced as Government policy in September 2024 originated in Young Nats discussions.

Social: From coffee catch-ups to events with MPs, members are provided with opportunities to connect. Members can attend regional and annual conferences, socialise with MPs, senior members of the Party, and meet other Young Nats from across the country.
