Tramping Club
Love tramping, hiking, or climbing? Keen to get into these outdoor pursuits?
Explore Aotearoa like you've never seen it before
The second oldest tramping club in New Zealand, we've been doing this since 1921.
Our club is a super social group open to all levels of tramping and outdoor adventurers. Whether it’s your first night sleeping in the bush or you just summited Aoraki, we have trips and adventures perfect for your skill level. Get a glimpse of the fun on our TikTok page.
As well as tramping, we also host:
- skills training
- first aid, alpine instruction, and climbing & bouldering courses
- mountaineering adventures
- canyoning and conservation trips
- day and evening walks
- formal dances and dinners in the wilderness
- taco eating.
Weekly meetings and trips
Our weekly trips for all levels and abilities run on both weekdays and weekends.
The best way to see what's going on is to come along to our club meetings. These are every Tuesday at 6 pm, normally at Kelburn campus. Don't forget to join us afterwards for our famous Taco Tuesdays.
Check our Facebook/Instagram stories each week for our meeting location or look on our website.
During holidays, we use the Welsh Dragon Pub (fun fact: the building used to be public toilets). It sits on the island in the middle of Cambridge Tce, at the eastern end of Courtenay Place.
Membership
Annual membership costs $20 for students and $30 for non-students. Half-year memberships are also available.
With this you get membership to the Federated Mountain Clubs of NZ (FMC), a whole bunch of discounts at various shops, plus use of all club gear and access to club trips.
Check out our website for all the tramping information you will ever need and more. If you still have questions, contact us through our Facebook/Instagram pages. We hope to see you soon.
