VUW Renters United is your student renters union that provides confidential tenancy advice, and social events for educating and mobilising student renters
VUW Renters United is a student-led union fighting for fair, affordable, and dignified housing for all student renters.
If you’ve ever dealt with dodgy landlords, freezing flats, expensive rent, or just felt like renters don’t get a real say, you’re not alone, and you’re exactly why we exist. By joining VUW Renters United, you’ll be part of a collective that supports student renters, builds community, and pushes for real change in Te-Whanganui-a-Tara and beyond.
Whether you want to get involved in campaigns, learn advocacy skills, meet like-minded students, or simply stay connected and informed, there’s a place for you here.
VUW Renters United offers free and confidential tenancy advice to students. For example, this can include:
- How to negotiate cheaper rent with your landlord.
- What to do if your flat is mouldy and cold.
- What to do if you think your landlord is breaking the law.
We also provide social events for student renters. These may include:
- renters flat party
- campus sausage sizzles
- regular club meetings.
