After the anticipated release of his new album In Memoriam, Flavio Villani joins the New Zealand School of Music — Te Kōkī to perform a programme of three monumental works that explore transformation, introspection, and spiritual journey.

Bach's Chaconne, reimagined by Busoni for the modern piano, stands as one of the great pillars of the repertoire — a work of immense emotional and architectural scope, with Brahms' late Intermezzi offering a more intimate voice, balancing tenderness, nostalgia, and quiet contemplation. The recital concludes with César Franck's Prelude, Choral et Fugue, a masterpiece that weaves lyricism, drama, and profound structural unity into a powerful musical pilgrimage.

Together, these works trace a path from grief and reflection towards resolution and transcendence, revealing the piano's extraordinary capacity for both grandeur and intimacy.
