Information about applying to become a tutor at the School of Government.
Tutors are an integral part of course delivery and provide a fundamental and supportive link between lecturers and students. We’re looking for passionate 300-level students, postgraduate students, and BCom/BA graduates with a major in Public Policy or related degree, who have preferably obtained a grade of B+ or higher in the courses they would like to tutor.

There are many benefits to becoming a SOG tutor, including:
Experienced tutors also have the opportunity to progress their role into a Lead Tutor position which offers more experience and a higher pay rate.
The following mandatory paid training is provided:
Some courses will have a Lead Tutor who will be available to support tutors in any of the tutoring tasks.
Tutors are contracted each trimester to take two to four tutorial/workshop groups in a course. Contracts start the week before trimester starts and conclude at the end of the assessment period. Tutorials/workshops generally start in weeks one or two of the trimester, depending on the type of course. All tutors need to be available during the week before the trimester begins for training and orientation, and the first meeting with the course coordinator and other tutors can occur before the trimester starts.
Tutorials/workshops for 100-level courses are held at the Kelburn Campus. All 200- and 300- level tutorials and workshops are held at the Pipitea Campus.
