Working at Techtonics has been an exciting and thoroughly enjoyable experience. Although there has been an incredibly steep learning curve, my colleagues have been beyond helpful in supporting my integration to the Information Management team. Initially, I was worried that I wouldn’t fit in and that I wouldn’t like the work, but I now wake up every morning eager to get into work and see what my next challenge will be.

It has been fascinating to see how the knowledge I have gained in my studies is directly applicable to the day-to-day work I undertake at Techtonics, in terms of understanding the business environment around me, the ability to think critically and analyse issues, and being able to effectively communicate these ideas to our clients. Given that my studies have mostly focused on theory, being able to put my learnings into practice has helped me gain a better understanding of what I’m learning.

Based on my personal experience I would certainly recommend the pathway to others in my position. Working part time in a relevant job alongside my studies has enriched my learning and contributed meaningfully to my Master of Commerce discussions and work. More importantly, the role has helped me settle on a topic for my Master’s thesis, the autoclassification of meta-data.
