Profile
Umar has a background in management sciences. After completing his undergraduate degree, he worked for United Bank Limited and later for the Red Cross in Pakistan. He received a Fullbright scholarship and went to Thunderbird School of Global Management in Arizona where he received his MBA. He then returned to Pakistan and taught Global Strategy and International Business Management at the National University of Sciences and Technology.

Umar's research interests focus on the effect of institutional environment on the foreign direct investment (FDI) location choice of multi-national enterprises.
