Victoria University of Wellington has a number of ways to help you with your finances throughout your study.
Postgraduate and doctoral scholarships

Grants and awards
During your candidature you may be able to apply for grants or awards to help with specific research costs.
Faculty research grants
You can apply for research grants through your faculty or school where available. Funds are typically granted to cover identifiable expenditure on inter-library loans, research material, travel for fieldwork and conference attendance.
If you wish to apply for a research grant, discuss your application with your supervisors.

Funding for Māori students
There are a number of additional funding options for Māori students to explore.
As well as the funding options below, you can use the filters on the scholarships database to specifically search for funding available to Māori students.
MAI ki Poneke
Mai ki Poneke members can apply for PhD funding, more information is available on the Te Kupenga o MAI website.
Iwi scholarships
The University is currently partnering with a number of iwi through its Taihonoa programme to increase the number or value of their scholarships and grants. We encourage you to connect with your iwi and apply for any scholarships or education grants they may offer.
