Located near Te Aro campus, Whānau Mārama Apartments is best suited to students who wish to have the comfort and privacy of their own apartment or share an apartment with one other student.

Throughout the year, you’ll have the opportunity to get involved and meet lots of people at the many inter-hall events—sports events, quiz nights, talent quest, film festival screening, and inter-floor activities.

About the apartments

  • Whānau Mārama Apartments is operated by Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington.
  • Available to independent, mature students, second year and above.
  • All apartments are furnished and heated, each with a private bathroom, basic cooking facilities, a dishwasher, oven and a washing machine/dryer combo.
  • Residents can choose to bring their own linen or purchase a bedding pack. See the list of items provided in the student handbook pdf3.3MB
  • Security camera surveillance.
  • Swipe card access is required to enter the building.
  • Wi-Fi is provided.

The 2026 fee excludes electricity, heating and internet. These services are provided, and the cost is an additional $15 per week. The rate will be confirmed when you receive your offer.

You can purchase a linen pack for $185.00. This includes the follow items:

  • pillow and pillowcase, duvet inner with cover, set of sheets and a fleece blanket
  • bath towel.

One-trimester-only contracts may incur an additional fee of 10 percent.

Contact the hall directly to make an appointment to visit. If you wish to see more than one hall on the same day, make sure you allow at least 30–40 minutes to cover the tour and the time to travel to the next hall. You can book a hall tour during school holidays.
